Multi-Purpose Indoor Rec Space Needed
Our community, comprised of youth sports teams, adults, and older adults need more multi-purpose indoor recreational space. WCSC is focused on addressing this need to bring more multi-purpose affordable indoor recreation space to Wayland.
- Wayland Youth Sports pays tens of thousands of dollars each year to other towns and private facilities to gain access to indoor sports and recreation facilities.
- Adults and seniors in Wayland have limited access to public spaces that meet 2024 standards for adult recreation activities, such as pickleball and indoor track space.
- Additional programming opportunities for Wayland Public School students outside of school hours (before and after) remain a major need.
Wayland severely lacks easy and affordable access to indoor recreational space for youth sports teams, residents, and our aging senior population. Now more than ever, our sports teams and community require the ability to access indoor recreation space for consistency in programming throughout unpredictable New England weather patterns.

WCSC Vision
The WCSC has taken a cursory look at what could be accomplished with the site for a multi-purpose indoor sports center. Working with the information in the environmental reports and within local by-laws and zoning rules, we generated a concept demonstrating the appropriate setbacks. This includes required parking and recognizing space for a potential septic system.
